Filtration and Screening
As partners of Andritz, a global technology group with over 280 locations, we supply sugar producers worldwide with their filtration and separation components. Our long-term customer relationships and partnerships prove that we have succeeded in aligning our products to the increasing demands of the producers for precision and quality. Machine components from Andritz make it possible to optimise efficiency in all phases of production.
Wedge wire drum filters
Wedge wire screen drums can be used both for washing the beets, and for the filtration and separation of solid and liquid components in other areas. ANDRITZ supplies wedge wire screen drums for processes with flows from inside to out as well as from outside to in.
Benefits:
– Low blockage tendency
– For filtration of fibres from 100µm and up
– Low maintenance
– Wide range of profile wire geometries and materials
– High slot width accuracy for the best process results
Diffuser screens
Screens for RT diffusion drums can be supplied as a cost-effective, punched version or as an optimised, drilled version. With the drilled version, thicker and more wear resistant materials can be machined. In addition, using this method, the screening area can be increased, increasing the capacity significantly.
Benefits:
– Capacity increase (large open area)
– Increase in service life
– Precise screen openings
Batch Centrifuge Basket
Our high-tech screen basket for discontinuous centrifuges with maximum yield technology consists of three individual baskets:
1. A fine screen made of wedge wire with an extended life compared to the previous standard screen, with a significantly higher open area for a faster and more efficient separation of sugar crystals from the mother liquor.
2. A support basket also made of wedge wire, which reinforces the fine screen and does not reduce the open area of the fine screen
3. A screen drum made from a modern duplex material. This patented and TÜV-approved new design is characterised by its long service intervals, high operational reliability and reduced cycle times.
Benefits:
– Maximum open area for greater basket performance
– Reinforcement rings for maximum stability and safety
– Reduction of cycle time by up to 50%
– Increase the sugar yield (up to 6%)
Inner basket
Optimised internal screens that are compatible with your existing centrifuge drum. Available in wedge wire, microperforated or punched perforation.
Benefits wedge wire variant:
– Open area up to 50%
– Optimised slot direction for the best molasses separation and protection of the sugar crystal from damage
Benefits punched perforation variant:
– Open area up to 25%
– Round or oblong perforation
Benefits micro perforation variant:
– Open area up to 25%
– Use of thicker Duplex material sheets for maximum wear resistance
– Round or oblong geometry
Continuous Centrifuge Basket
Unlike screens with short vertical slots, polished wedge wire screens with continuous horizontal slots enable the rapid separation of sugar crystals and molasses, as well as friction-optimised conveyance of the sugar crystals across the screen surface. When using polished wedge wire screens for continuous centrifuges, the horizontal slots ensure that the crystals do not break. The stroboscopic test shows that the crystals take a much gentler path across the surface of the wedge wire screen than with screens with vertical slots. Wedge wire screens are significantly more robust than common screens and therefore more resistant to damage caused by foreign bodies or encrustation. All of our baskets for continuous centrifuges are manufactured from 316/316L stainless steel. In contrast to the standard CrNi foils, the materials used by Andritz do not cause any chrome or nickel contamination.
Benefits Process:
– Higher sugar retention (up to 2% more)
– Fast separation of sugar crystals from the molasses
– High wear resistance: Low risk of sugar encrustation and damage by foreign substances
– Larger sugar crystals, less breakage
– No nickel or chrome contamination of the final product
– Increased production capacity due to higher open area and optimised profile wire geometry.
– No losses due to business interruption with frequent, unplanned screen changes
– Reduced maintenance effort
– No design changes to your machinery necessary
– No balancing required
– No downtime during the project
– Low maintenance costs
